Continuing Education Units--- (CEUs)
UF Distance & Continuing Education (DCE) can award CEUs for appropriate UF sponsored education events. CEUs are used to verify participation in an eligible continuing education experience under the direction of a qualified sponsor, trainer or instructor. CEUs are evaluated and calculated according to accepted international standards of the IACET. Each contact hour of continuing education equates to .1 CEU.
Activities that are eligible for CEU’s include:
- Educational conferences
- Training Webinars
- Non-degree certificate programs ( programs where a certificate of completion is earned)
Activities that are not appropriate for awarding CEUs include:
- Academic credit courses
- Business meetings and committee meetings
- Social activities
A full list of guidelines may be found at the IACET website.
Participants may present their CEU’s to their professional association or licensing board to request the program be applied to their on-going continuing education. The professional association may request supporting documentation, such as an agenda or conference proceeding.
If you would like to request CEUs for an event, please submit an application (doc) to the Director of DCE
In addition to CEU’s, departments may award certificates of completion for educational programs. Please note that the awarding department should use their secondary UF signature for any certificates. The university seal is reserved for the office of the president. More info can be found at UF Brand Center.
If you are working with the University conferences department for an educational event, they can help you with awarding CEU’s and printing certificates.
